Coach's Message:

I would like to take a moment to welcome you all to Yorba Linda High School Men’s Soccer’s inaugural season.  I am very excited to have been hired to be a part of this very exciting challenge, and I look forward to working with you all to accomplish all of our goals.

I truly feel as though we have been blessed with an outstanding opportunity, not to carry on traditions, but instead to create our own.  We have the unusual ability to frame our program to reflect all of the characteristics we deem important to be successful both on and off the field.  While we may face some of the obstacles and set-backs that come with a new school, they will all serve as learning tools to help us in the upcoming seasons.

So, I ask you, who do we want to be?  Do we want to be known as the school that has loud abrasive sidelines, or the one that supports their players and shows incredible enthusiasm for it’s team?  Do we want to have small home crowds, or be a field where opposing teams truly despise playing at?  Do we want to be a program that has to drag parents and players out to take part in fundraisers and group events, or do we want to be a soccer family that thrives on participation?  We have the ability to determine these things now.  I know we can all set the right example for our student athletes, and my hope is 20 years from now, the future Mustangs are still benefitting from the decisions we will make today.

While there are still so many of you whom I have not yet met, I am encouraged by the few I have.  I know this year, and the years to come will be exciting and productive and I am glad to be a part of it.  When it is all said and done, we will all be able to say we were there in the beginning, and I look forward to the traditions we create along the way.

Sincerely,

 Michael Stauber
